In September, we invited some of the hospitality industry's leading design specialists to our space to consider how longevity is shaping the next generation of hotel design.  Hosted by HotelDesigns, our panellists explored lasting design narratives, material circularly, and the impact of guest experience on lasting commercial success in hotel and hospitality businesses.

We were joined by Senior Director of Design Strategy for Marriott International's Premium and Select Brands across EMEA, Despina Kalapoda.  Despina helps shape design approaches that respond to evolving guest expectations and support long-term business and sustainability goals. She is passionate about the intersection of guest wellbeing, responsible development, and enduring design.

A high-end hospitality design specialist from Goddard Littlefair, Sarah Williams also joined our panel. Sarah's passion for world travel that has reinforced her belief that design should create a sense of place and reflect and enhance its environment.  With experience working with IHG, Hilton, Isrotel, Waldorf Astoria, St Regis, Rocco Forte, Marriott and Starwood, she now runs a highly skilled design team ensuring that individual member flare can meet a symbiotic design language in its projects.

Completing the panel, Royal College of Art graduate Emma Shipley brought her unique perspective of both designer and supplier to the panel. Emma launched her eponymous label at London Fashion Week and has spent over a decade turning illustration into object: fabric ranges, upholstery, and collaborations shaped for inspiring hotel interiors including Clarke & Clarke and Hypnos.  Each piece takes the guest into Emma's fantastical universe where every pattern tells a story.

Together, the panellists brought a diverse range of perspectives to an insightful and engaging discussion exploring how evolving hotel interior design approaches are creating future-fit guestrooms and guest experiences for tomorrow’s stay, made today.

Thank you to all who joined us.
