About the event

Ageing Populations, Accessibility & Mobility are prevalent megatrends, but what do they actually mean and why are they so important in built environment designs?  In this session, we discuss how to design for the changing needs of an ageing population, explore the effects of ageing and the resulting changes in capability, and consider design solutions to future proof residential interiors.  Guests will discover how the UK data picture and how the growth in an ageing population will effect architecture in the future.  


This talk will be enhanced by the Blum® Age Explorer® - a suit developed by the Meyer-Hentschel Institute to simulate the diminishing sight and hearing, decreasing muscle strength, stiff joints and arthritis experienced as we age.  Components such as straps, weights, goggles and special stitching allow for a realistic insight into the world of a person with physical limitations.  Blum uses the Age Explorer suit as a key…
