THE BRIEF
INDUSTRIAL
HERITAGE MEETS NEW YORK PIZZA
Fresh on the dining scene in Sunderland, ‘I Scream for Pizza’ opened its doors as part of a £4m Riverside regeneration masterplan, serving up New York style pizza and ice cream in a quirky interior reflective of the city’s industrial heritage.
The restaurant’s interior is a welcoming balance of contemporary warmth, retro-diner furniture styles, and nods to the Riverside’s rich history of manufacturing and trade.
Central to the scheme is the application of EGGER’s H1307 ST19 Brown Warmia Walnut – specified for booth seating, wall panels and partition elements. Warm brown tones and linear grain patterns are reminiscent of classically elegant furniture styles, and perfectly juxtapose the partially worn brickwork, exposed conduit and large windows to create a design-focused hospitality space rich with industrial characteristics.

ABOUT
H1307 ST19
BROWN WARMIA WALNUT
Brown Warmia Walnut combines copper-based brown hues with elements of darker, almost-black browns, offering a sophisticated yet natural aesthetic. The decor features a soft pore pattern paired with rustic details, providing the ideal partner to the areas of rich red brick. The ST19 Deepskin Excellent matt-gloss texture enhances the wood character for a refined finish.

Enhancing the colour palette, the design scheme includes pops of deep mulberry and teal upholstery and a bold ochre floor that provide an eye-catching contrast to the raw aesthetic of the brickwork and patina.
ABOUT
PERFORMANCE MEETS
DESIGN INTENT

The project uses a mix of versatile materials to meet the performance requirements of the interior.
Wall panelling and partitions are crafted in EGGER Decorative Boards, a robust panel material designed for vertical and horizontal surfaces in mid to high traffic applications in commercial interiors. Its versatile format is easy and cost efficient to process, while its hard-wearing surface is scratch and strain resistant, lightfast, simple to clean.
For the booth seating and kick bases – areas of higher wear – EGGER Laminate offers the resilient surface required to withstand the heavy footfall of a busy hospitality environment. Its additional overlay to the decorative surface increases its scratch, stain and abrasion resistance.
Both materials offer a hygienic surface, rated antibacterial to the highest parameter in accordance with ISO 22196, providing a functional solution for the needs of the space without compromise on design intent.
